Build 18010 - OpenVPN (and PPTP) issues ..

All,

I am using the 18010 build on a WRT610Nv1 router, and am having the folowing issue(s).  If anyone has a suggestion to resolve, that would be great.

1. I am trying to set the router as a OpenVPN server.  I have all the required cert and am using the GUI to set the TAP configuration.  I cannot get the UI to retain the 'Pool End IP'.  after entering a valid address, when i click 'save', the field gets blanked out.

2. In setting up a PPTP server, I have noticed that occasionally the 'Server IP' will get blanked out.  I have to re-enter the server IP , save/apply the settings to restore functionality.

I am wondering if the two problems are related.  I noticed the second problem after repeatedly entering the 'Pool End IP', saving and applying the setting as described in the first problem.

Thanks

Hmmm... What else do you have

Hmmm... What else do you have running on this unit. Do you have OTRW installed?

Sometimes routers act up if they are running out of NVRAM space. How much free NVRAM space is your router reporting?

Nope, dont have OTRW running on this. Actually, dont have a USB drive hooked on to this for now :-).

The setting is pretty vanilla, started fresh, need the router to act as my VPN server (OpenVPN and PPTP).

That said, 'nvram show | grep size' shows 33 left :-(, so that might be the problem. My dh.pem is a 2K string, instead of the standard 1K, I can try that to see if I free up some nvram. But still, I am thinking that if I go down to the dh.pem being 1K, when I add some of the static routes I need, I might be pushing the limit again.

Any clues to resolve. Will using a USB flash drive and jffs help .. ?

take a look at the following link. This should help you. There is a snapshot of the UI page in this thread.

If you are able to get an 8 or 16G usb stick and format it as follows:

16GB USB Stick:
p1 2.0 GB / ext2 / label: optware / mount target: /opt
p2 256 MB / swap / label: swap
p3 4.7 GB / ext2 / label: jffs / mount target: /jffs
p4 9.0 GB / ext2 / label: data / mount target: /mnt

Then use the built in automount and you should be in business. I highly recommend installing OTRW and then turning off all the services you don't need (on for simple setup on kong builds always disable the S01fixparts, S10swap, S35automount and S80samba; the rest is up to you to configure or disable)

This should allow you to use /jffs and take a bit of a load of your system's memory.

will try OTRW on the 610n. I have successfully used otrw on my parallel setup with a set of e3000's.

I might even drop back to eko's 15962 build. To me that has been a very stable build, and every attempt to upgrade has been an experiment in finding new 'stuff' aka problems. None of the recent upgrades has been seamless.

I am probably handicapped with the 32K ram, I might just have to bite the bullet on the 610N
