Can't connect at 802.11AC speeds w/ R7000

Maybe someone can help me here...

I actually have both the R7000 and the Asus RT-68U at home so I can test them head to head. My wife has the newest 802.11AC MacBook air. She can connect at 867mbps to the AC68U when she's right next to it, but with the nighthawk, she can only connect at 104. Seems to stay pegged about there. I checked to make sure that Security is WPA2 AES, and WMM is also enabled. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Help is much appreciated here - thanks!

Which firmware are you using?

Which firmware are you using? Netgear has released an update that could have fix it.

Where is the update? The most

Where is the update? The most recent firmware I see from Netgear was released on October 11, which is the version I was using. I'm currently on DD-WRT, and the same problem persists.

I uploaded the stock version

I uploaded the stock version 1.0.1.22, I didn't see your issue listed but if you are comfortable, with router changes.... it's worth a shot.

Hi hungarianhc,

Hi hungarianhc,
Will you please elaborate on your dd-wrt wireless configuration (Wireless Network Mode, Channel width, Wireless channel etc)???

Same problem here. I can get

Same problem here. I can get up to 300Mbs at best on the 5ghx wireless radio with a Intel 7260 AC Card on Samsung Series 9 connected to my R7000.

I've been tweaking the setting on my card and my router (with Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/11/13) kongac) for about 2 days now and haven't gotten over 300.

I have tried 5ghx radio set to mixed. I turn the AC option on & and everything else in the Intel Administrator Tool (but that ends up kicking me an not letting me back on), but can't connect to AC only.

I use 80mhx channel 161 on my 5Ghz band.

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Note:
The Netgear firmware didn't even offer to go higher than 20Mhx on the 5ghz band.

I ended up switching back to

I ended up switching back to the AC-68U. I'm sure there is a workaround / way to fix this problem, but I tried re-flashing my firmware, changing all sorts of wireless / security settings, etc, and I couldn't get it to work.

There is a Tutorial

There is a Tutorial demonstrating the wireless configuration on dd-wrt. I would suggest you to follow this setting.

Along with all the settings in that video, I have tried everything that I can think of.

I tried;

Updating drivers for my chipset & 7260ac network card.

I have tried the settings in the video and several others.

No matter what, I can't get over 300mbs.

I also tried using the card in another Acer Notebook and was able to get the high AC speeds but not this Samsung Series 9 (Model NP900X4C A03US)

Any help, advice, or information, would be appreciated....

I'm very frustrated....

I am assuming you are running

I am assuming you are running Windows 7/8?

For the Intel AC 7260, you can "Configure" the adapter where you can set channel width, QoS mode, etc.

There is also a setting in there called "HT Mode". Ensure that it is set to "VHT Mode".

Also ... I have heard of folks not properly seating the antennas on the adapter; hence, only one ends up getting used if not none.

Also, in you power options - under advanced power settings - Wirless Adapter Settings - Power Saving Mode ... make sure you have things set to Maximum Performance.

Win 7 - 64-bit

Yes, I can changed the settings and I have tried them all.

Will take a look at the atenna seatings to see if that helps.

Yea, still the same things.

Yea, still the same things. The attennas are connected. Don't know what else to do to make sure they are connected right. I spent hours with it again and I get a rather unstable connection with the latest drivers and with/without the intel configuration utility.

I switched back. I can currently only get up to 180 (have gotten 300) MB/s with my current Intel Advanced N 6235 but the connection is more stable.

Perhaps I one of my antennas aren't working.....?

Anyone who has any advice, please let me know.
