Hello,
I apologize in advance if this has been answered somewhere or this is the wrong thread. I have been reading different posts and searching these threads and I still have questions. Haha. Anyway, I am new to this and the "general" improvements that I see by using DD-WRT over the stock firmware seem pretty cool. So, I wanted to try it out. Obviously on the DD-WRT site, it's showing wip. As I searched, the Kong builds kept coming up and I find it awesome the he/she (you if you are reading this) gets back to people with their questions.
However, as I read their issues, I am finding they are waaaaaay over my head, haha. My main question is if there is a Kong build that is stable and easily usable if I am not tweaking every little setting? Also, the download I am finding from here is almost a year old, but I see newer builds referenced in various threads. If I did flash my router over, where is the best place to keep up with the newset builds? Thanks in advance!
1. I usualy refer to Supported Devices to check dd-wrt support for any router. This list is showing WNDR4500 is supported by dd-wrt. Where did you find WNDR4500 in wip status??
2. You will find latest dd-wrt firmware for WNDR4500 in this link.
I didn't go to the wiki. My bad. I went to : http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database. Then searched for my model number. Thanks for the quick reply. Time to check this out!
Keep sharing your experience with DDWRT in WNDR4500.
DDWRT = slow on a 4500
If you want the latest kong builds please download from his site.

Make sure that you read the "readme" and "changelog" and download the correct files.
