Compatibility of WNR3500L with Annex J, Annex A etc

Hello everyone,

i wanted to know, if said router can deal with an Annex J type Internet ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.992.3_Annex_J )

Furthermore: If my ISP will change their service to Annex J, does my router need to adapt on a hardware basis, or can this be done with a change on software/firmware level?

Anyway, I'm happy to have found this site. When I'll need a new router, the WNR3500L seems like THE way to go.

Great,

regards,

Martin

The WNR3500L / WNR3500L v2

The WNR3500L / WNR3500L v2 are wireless routers, not DSL modems.
No need to worry about Annex there, as that's up to your
DSL-modem to figure out/support.

Were you actually thinking of a DGN3500, wich -is- a DSL-modem..?

afaik is a modem part of any router (?).
I never used a dedicated modem.

enwiki/dsl-modem:

"The more common DSL router which combines the function of a DSL modem and a home router, is a standalone device which can be connected to multiple computers through multiple Ethernet ports or an integral wireless access point. "

Does this not apply to the WNR3500L?

The WNR3500 / WNR3500L is NOT a modem, but a plain (and nice) wireless router.

Then there is DSL-modems, and Cable-modems. They can have a router-function, or be a plain bridge.

If they also have a router-function, then they are called DSL-router, Cable-router...

Nowhere does the WNR3500 / WNR3500L states to be a modem of any kind.

Oh, and to clarify. You pasted info from Wikipedia, but your search there was for DSL-router.

A quick search for DSL-modem gives:

en-wikipedia-org/wiki/DSL_modem

---

digital subscriber line (DSLmodem is a device used to connect a computer or router to a telephone line which provides the digital subscriber line service for connectivity to the Internet, which is often called DSL broadband.

The term DSL modem is technically used to describe a modem which connects to a single computer, through a USB port or is installed in a computer PCI slot.

In my first answer to you I gave a model# which does have DSL-modem and router in one.

As per my knowledge is

As per my knowledge is concerned, WNR3500L is a home router. You have to connect your ISP connection to modem and the modem with your WNR3500L.
