USB Drive Connection

Short story.. in-laws have 3500L and went to a larger USB drive, the stock firmware doesn't see it so I decided to upgrade to DD-WRT.

I flashed : DDWRT Kong Mod USB/FTP/SAMBA3/...  Build 22000+

When I connect the drive, it says:  ... mounted to /tmp/mnt/disk0-part1

Settings:

  • Core USB, USB Storage, Automatic Mount enabled, no script and nothing in the mount for /jffs or /opt
  • Samba enabled
  • Sever String (empty), Workgroup name : set to what I have thier PC's to
  • Share.. well, the pull down doesn't have the mount point (see below)
  • Name set, pulbic and RW

But when I go to the sharing tab, I try to setup a share but the pulldown only shows -, dev, mnt.   I am only partially unix savy, but in reading I thought that mnt was linked to tmp/mnt, but I don't see any contents of the drive in windows.  I see the share, but it is empty and when I try to create a file it will not let me.  However I should see my files at least which leads me to think I am not looking at the drive yet!

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Update...

It sure looks like this is due to me having a 3TB drive and it being formatted NTFS. But it doesn't look like from reading that any real combination will let me use the whole drive. So without knowing the technical details, also reading, seems like kernel 3.x fixes some of these issues. Of course the DD-WRT wiki says kernel 2.8 only. Can the 3500L be udpated to K3.x?

Thanks.
