Corrupted R7000 firmware, fixes not working

After flashing DD-WRT onto my R7000 (I have used DD-WRT on many previous routers without issue), I bumped the clock setting to 1400 within DD-WRT based upon many successful reports.

This is where the fun began. This bricked my R7000. Hard resets did not work, and could not tftp firmware. I acquired the correct USB cable, and was successful in puTTY'ing in to the shell. I tried to flash both the NetGear stock and DD-WRT without success. I noticed that regardless of attempting any resets, the preamble messages indicated the boot sequence was setting clkfreq=1400,0.

This seems to be the source of the problem. Using the nvram set clkfreq=1200,800 in shell, with commit I was able to successfully re-flash the stock NetGear firmware, but I noticed that the IP start addresses in the web GUI are greyed out and list "undefined" in the boxes. I can't clear them, and this is screwing up my ability to set up the network.

I tried re-flashing virgin DD-WRT code, and the damned router boot goes back to clkfreq=1400,0 essentially re-bricking with every flash!

SO, how can I clear out the router in shell so that it will remain clkfreq=1200,800 (commit isn't working at this point), and flash either stock or DD-WRT so the web GUI will allow me to put in the proper settings? How can I get back to factory settings in shell? Any pointers in where to go for generating the proper scripts?

This has been a REAL head-scratcher. Thanks in advance.

After breaking into the CFE, did you type erase nvram?

I have the identical problem

I have the identical problem as I bought the FDI RS232 V3.3 cable and read the instructions although it gets confusing with all the added commentary.  Quite frankly it would be a whole lot easier to simply ship it to somebody that knows how to debrick R7000 routers and pay them for the trouble.

I'm going to try and use Shipley's wireless backdoor approach to log into this router without a username or password and hope it gets me in far enough to upgrade or revert back to Netgear genie.

Well, the wireless back door

Well, the wireless back door approach didn't work either..........will try to follow the debricking steps again as it appears to be a soft bricking issue.

I've used serial to unbrick a few of these R7000. If you pay for two way shipping plus $5, I'm willing to do it.
