I have flashed this firmware several different times, and my r6250 never has a functional 2.4Ghz wifi afterwards. I've tried various NVRAM resets as well as 30/30/30 resets with no success. The interface reports the wireless hardware is functioning, but none of my devices can detect the network. If I flash DD-WRT, everything works perfectly.
I'm really not a DD-WRT fan, so if anyone has any pointers how to get this working on Shibby's Tomato, I'd love to hear them ;)
Thanks in advance!
I just installed Shibby Tomato v129 and had the exact same thing less that an hour ago.
I was just about to restore to the OEM software, and had selected a 'restore to default'
in prepration for this, when I noticed that the RADIO light was now on, and 2.4Ghz was flagged
as 'enabled' in the status page. I confirmed that this was true on my Iphone and decided to
now configure everything that had been reset.
Interesting, I'll have to give that another shot. I've wiped NVRAM completely several times and it never helped, but seeing that it worked for you gives me a little hope
Unfortunately, after a reboot I lost 2.4Ghz wifi again. NVRAM reset occasionally restores it until I reboot the router again.
I just restored to OEM software after spending an hour getting the router reset after making what should have been a simple
change to one of the settings.
I guess too much options for what I want, which is to have the unit act as a simple AP.
I did telnet in to the OEM software and pokeing around have at least confirmed that the
full RAM was being seen, as well as having two CPU's active. I had tried this software as I was not sure if both CPU's were
active as reported by others in older software.
Tried forementioned...my wireless id dead...any fix suggestions ?
I used dd-wrt and wasn't happy , but with this tomato build I see my wifi very flaky at best. Sometimes it's completely gone. Going back to stock, but please fix this.
I was unable to revert back to stock so I upgrded to a newer version. https://advancedtomato.com/downloads/router/r6250 So far , everything is good.
hi,
i have problem with 2.4Ghz wifi, tomato v1.29, defaut setting and custom setting => wifi analyser App (on z3 compact), i see the 2.4ghz carrier falling randomly. My ipad air and iphone 3g encounter the same problem
I will test the v1.30, rrsalas ;-)
I came across this thread with the same problem in 2018! I have a fully functional R6250 with stock firmware. I needed better (different) parental controls than Genie allowed. Doing some reading, I downloaded the Shibbly May 2018 Tomato software and DD-WRT from late 2017. Looking at the basics, I thought Tomato would be the preferred match up, and proceeded to install. I reset the router to defaults, loaded the initial package, then the AIO package. Looks great. I navigated the screens fairly well, setting various options how I wanted them, etc etc. Everything looked perfect except.... No 2.4 band. According to the software, it was enabled and I thought configured properly. So I reset back to default, erased the nvram, and tested it before changing anything. The 5 ghz was working fine, but no sign of 2.4ghz. I use wifi analyzer on my phone. I plugged in my crappy dlink and both bands sprung to life. After endless prodding and changing, I figured I had somehow borked the 2.4ghz radio. On a whim, I loaded up DD-WRT, and presto magic both bands were back in all their glory. The only issue I have found is the router ports are not identifying as Gigabit ports on my switch. I am not sure if that is a software issue or compatibility issue, but with 90-240 second reboots for every change in the router, I was done for the day.
Any clues what I likely missed with Tomato?
