Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum and to open source software on routers and i am looking for some help and guidance. I am currently with Telstra on cable and i can not use any other modems/ routers as Telstra's gateway max modem are mapped to their network so what i would like to do is run DD-WRT or whatever software is good and stable on my Netgear R7000 and connect that to my Telstra gateway max so my Netgear handles everything my Telstra gateway just provides connection so if someone would be so kind guide me through this that would be excellent thanks.
Can you bridge your modem? If not, you'll be double NATing if you add the R7000 to your network. It's not a big issue, but it's not recommended either
That said, I don't have much experience with DD-WRT, but if you want to run Tomato, it's very easy. You can follow the steps by shibby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w10jLqRmdLM
I have just checked and yes there is a bridge mode are you able to help set this up? also is tomato stable ?
I'm not familiar with your modem, but setting it bridged shouldn't be difficult. As for Tomato, yes, it's very stable (at least here)
Thanks for you help.
