How to revert from OpenWRT to stock on r7500v2

I'm running into issues with the .img files both from here and from netgear.  When I try to downgrade to stock, I get an error that the format isn't supported.

I'd appreciate any info you can provide.  It looks like the .img format is for upgrading from stock firmware, but I'm not sure how to generate a downgrade from the stock .img file to whatever openwrt is expecting.

"sysupgrade-compatible image" is what is called for.

I had a real rough time reverting back to the OEM with a TP-Link some time ago. I am on 1.0.2.2 for the R7500V2 at the moment. Here is hoping for DDWRT support for this Netgear.Does this OpenWRT firmware do anything for you?

1) Setup an interface with an IP address of 192.168.1.x/24 (x = anything except 1) on a computer cabled to the LAN ports of the router

2) download most recent firmware zip file - unzip

3) reboot router

4) tftp the .bin file from the firmware zip to 192.168.1.1 early in the router's boot process.

I've tried uploading the .img file from my computer to the router using TFTP and as best I can tell, there is no TFTP daemon running.  I keep getting connection errors, but I can ping the router fine.  Any suggestions?
