R7000 "This firmware file is incorrect!"

Hello, today I purchased a Netgear R7000P at Fry's in Los Angeles. I searched around to see if there's any differece between the 7000 and 7000P, and not finding any mention of the 7000P via websearch, have assumed that it's the same beast.

I've downloaded the Kong build from Jan 18, 2017, and I get the error "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product." when I try and upload it. I've also tried Kong's build from December 12, 2016 and theTathagata build from December 28, 2015. I've 30/30/30'd the router between attempts. All 3 attempts resulted in the same error.

Any ideas? Is the R7000P a different enough model where it won't work with these builds?

Thanks!

A

Won't work, the 7000P has different radios. Even if it would boot, all the radio params would be wrong.
Thus the best you can get is a badly working radio and the worst that can happen is that it uses a different flashlayout and you wipe areas that will fully break the unit.

I assume this remains true.
