I must be stupid. Very simple IP change question.

I want to set up a R7000 as an AP. I need to change the IP of the unit away from 192.168.1.1 (where my current router is IP'd).

I literally want to change the IP and be able to get back to the gui.

I have the newest Kong flash.

I log in, set password. Log in with new password. Turn off DHCP. Log out and log back in. (My laptop is hardwired and is set to 192.168.1.15 with mask of 255.255.255.0. I can log in no problem with DHCP disabled.

I think just change the IP of the netgear from 192.168.1.1 to any other IP in the same range (192.168.1.2 for example) and I cant get back to the web gui. It pings on the new IP but I cant hit it with a browser.

What stupid thing am I doing?

The laptop has a hard set IP... the cabling obvusoulsy is fine as that when the router is set to .1 everything is ok.

I then reset the router, and I can log back in to .1 no problem. Please tell me what Im missing!!!!

Assuming that you turn of the

Assuming that you turn of the DHCP for the LAN and not WAN

Your router still need to set the "Local IP Address" as 192.168.1.1 and Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.0 even though you turn off the DHCP

Your PC can be set to any 192.168.1.xx btw 192.168.1.1 and  192.168.1.254 with mask of 255.255.255.0 and Gateway is 192.168.1.1
