QOS Setup

Has anyone successfully setup QOS on this router. I would like to see what settings are for video streaming, FaceTime, torrent download.

Thanks.

Mines set up using Dymanic

Mines set up using Dymanic QoS...

Whats your ISP speed UP and Down?

How many other devices do you have connected to the router at one time?

Like to know if anyone with

Like to know if anyone with v37 or v38SF version are seeing a problem in QOS after selecting run the speed test that the speed test doesn't start and seems to hang on this screen and the apply button is greyed out after selecting Dymanic QOS check box. Seems like the QoS Ui isn't completing the event and nothing else can be done on this scree. I've tried IE11 from Windows 7, 10 and Safari from Mac. The apply button is no longer selectable.

I tried this test: not

I tried this test: no problems. 1.0.2.38SF.

When I press the button [Take a Speedtest] really all buttons are greyed. But after 30 sec or so (i.e. when speedtest is completed) everything is OK: [Apply], [Take a Speedtest] and [Update Now] are violet and "pressable".

Maybe it is temporary problem with connection to one from Ookla server. Seem you speedtest is not completed. Or wait a bit more time.

Thanks voxel. I had to fully reset the router to defaults. After connecting 3 different PCs to ther outer, the QoS Ui never enabled the apply button at all. Something happend. I left QoS alone as I had to go do other things. I'll get it retested soon. Thanks for your reply.

You can check what is real

You can check what is real reason manually. When you click start speed test it runs special command in router. I'd suggest you to enter to router console by telnet and run this command manually:

ookla --configurl=http://www.speedtest.net/api/embed/trial/config.php

and see what it says.

and mark checkbox [x] Enable Telnet

then "telnet: to your router IP (e.g. 192.168.?.1)

then in telnet just run this command above and see what it prints.

Ok I got the following:

Ok I got the following:

serverid: 8182
latency: 8
upload: 10750
download: 165185

I'm on a 200/10 service....

It's possible that it was hung up the very first time I tired this. As  the apply buttons were greyed out. After doing a full factory reset and set up from scratch, both Safari and Opera browsers seem to be working now as the apply button comes back to be selected after about 10-15 seconds. I'll keep and eye on this.

I set manually QOS and applied the setting for 200/10. I'll see how this goes for gaming.

Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if there's a way to configure the QoS manually and disable that dynamic QoS using voxel's firmware. I just got my R7800 and the first thing I did was installing your firmware. I want to preserve all the goodies that comes with Netgear's firmware (voxel's version of course) but with a manual QoS. I just tried the dynamic QoS with overwatch and some browsing and netflix on other devices and it sucked baaad.

any ideas?

Hi,

Hi,

Same question as ledandmetallica.

Really need the manual qos, but apart from that, this firmware is really good. I'm happy to manually edit any Linux config file on the router if someone could advise please?

Is it possible to limit QoS

Is it possible to limit QoS for a single device/ip/mac? My son has a PS3 and XBOX One that are a bandwidth hogs. My previous router "wndr3700v4 running lede" it was not easy/possible to limit QoS to a single device/ip/mac.

I have not yet flashed Voxels firmware on my new R7800 but going to here real soon if not later today! :)

You can set priority levels

You can set priority levels on each device under the connected clients list. Select the devcie and it will bring up a screen where you can edit the kind of device it is and select from High, Medum or Low priority I believe...

Thanks I seen that. I'm not

Thanks I seen that. I'm not an expert when it comes to QoS. I know what it is in a nutshell. What is the up/down difference between low, medium, high? I couldn't find where to set the up/down speed in MB.

No information on what the

No information on what the differences are...never been explained from NG. The setting of the speed is done by doing the speedtest app in the UI.

Other than this, there is no other settings...
