Hi everyone this is Nick I know this question has been asked before but with no replies can someone please tell the non savy tecks like many in this forum the steps on how to flash DD-WRT for the R9000 and what Buid (s) thanks for the replyes they are appreciated.

Find below the steps to flash the ddwrt firmware on R9000 from stock firmware,
1.Follow this link to download ddwrt firmware for R9000

2.Unzip and copy the .img file to desktop or any know location.
3.Launch an Internet browser from a computer that is connected to the router wired.
4.Go to the url type 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1
5.A login screen displays.
6.Enter the router user name and password.
7.The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home screen displays.
8. Select ADVANCED > Administration > Router Update->select browse and select the .img file from the Desktop and select upload. Router reboot after upload complete.

If using your suggested method would the R9000 keep all it's setting from before and apply them to the new DD-WRT firmware?

If you currently have factory firmware, then use R9000-factory-to-ddwrt...
And no, it won't retain any settings, you'll have to set it up again.
