Can I use the USB for printer and HD?

Hi fellow Tomato friends,
Newbie here. Just got my Netgear WNR3500 and quickly installed Tomato. It looks very promising except that the signal strength is quite bad.

Anyway, my question is if I can connect both an external USB Hard Disk and my USB printer to the USB port? And if so how would I format the Hard Drive? And where and what software would I use for the HP printer?
