Hi
I have an R7000 using ddwrt for my vpn subscription. I have a D7000 ( non ddwrt ) not being used. Am I able to install this upstairs connected to R7000 to extend network and wifi access around my house so everything runs through R7000 vpn. Is there any specific way I need to connect the two. Thanks for any help
Mark
It can be done.
You have to turn off DHCP and all that on the second router. Then you plug into the SWITCH ports (not the WAN) and connect to your main VPN router.
Make sure they're on differnt wifi channels (both G and N) but the same SSID.
That ought to do it.
Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for. I was playing around with the DHCP forwarded as I was struggling to understand and i t would do the trick was my assumption. Anyway. Igot it working thanks.
I have only started dd-wrt yesterday, and its amazing how good it works.
Thanks for info ill give it a shot. Just a quick question. Ive installed the .chk file for ddwrt as was on original firmware. Do i need to reflash the kong arm.bin file now to have the latest or is the chk file the latest but in a different format to the bin file imcase you have original netgear firmware.
