Opendns question

Hi,

I am new to the forum and just ordered a 3500L. I would be interested to know if I can use different opendns settings for each network connected to the router.

If not, then can I at least use one Opendns setting for Lan and another for Wan? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply. Actually I have not received the router yet as I just ordered it yesterday but I'm willing to use any firmware to achieve that goal. Thanks again for your help.

Using DD-WRT on a WNR3500L I have no problem using opendns.
Since this post is a little old, did you ever get it setup?

Hi Brandon C,

Hi Brandon C,

Thanks for your followup. With DD-WRT I don't think you can actually have a "bypass" account for OpenDNS. Only the Netgear firmware allows such possibility. For this reason I had to drop DD-WRT. If things have changed, please do let me know. Thanks.

If you setup OpenDNS on your router you can easily bypass it on specific computers by setting a different DNS address on those computer.
On Windows for example you could go to your connection properties and change TCP/IP to use a specific DNS like your ISP's or Google's 8.8.8.8

What you propose is an interesting alternative but you still cannot have a per user opendns account with DD-WRT. You can either have opendns or not. Thanks.
