Power Supply Question

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if any of you that have this router can tell me the output amps/volts for the power supply.  I've had my router stored away and need to use it now, and I have 3 different power supplies.  Two of them are 1.0 amps and one is 1.5 amps output.

Thanks!

m4p,

m4p,
I just checked my spare wnr3500Lv2. The Power supply (wall-wort) indicates that it is 12.0VDC (pos=pin, neg=ring) at 1.5 amps, 18.0 watts.

Duncan

Thanks, Duncan, I really

Thanks, Duncan, I really appreciate it. I just didn't want to overamp it, and since all 3 of my power supplies say Netgear, wasn't sure which one would be best to use.

m4p,

m4p,
I reply due to your use of the term 'overamp.' I have read this term many times in the past. It is a bogus concept. the power wall-wort is made to supply a certain amount (capacity) of current (Amps). The router is the load, and I suspect the largest amount of current is needed for the radio, but some of the logic chips could be current-hogs also. In any case, even if you were to use a 2A wall-wort, your router would still run fine, because the router (load) would only provide a demand of 1.5A (well, unless some internal short-circuit condition took place! I'd suspect some blue-smoke leaking out then!
