So, I have a WGR614L that is unresponsive ever since I loaded the dreaded v24-SP1 build hosted here. So, just recently I gathered the stuff together to install a permanent serial connection per the article here:
http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/10811/Hacking-Your-NETGEAR-WGR614L-H...
I think I did alright but I'm not a pro solderer so I can't say for sure. It isn't blowing up when powered on. I've followed the article for how to recover the router using a serial connection except that I'm running OS X, not Windows. I got the ftdi usb/serial drivers and I've tried using multiple apps (putty in X11, screen /dev/tty.usbserial, ZTerm) to capture a serial session with the router, but I never get anything.
So, I don't know if the problem is that I f'd up the installation of my serial connection or if I'm doing something else wrong. Also, when the router is booted, I can ping it. So, is there another way to bring it back?
Any further tests or recommendations would be appreciated - especially from OS X or other *nix users.
