Admittedly I am not extremely proficient with networking. I have a home network with a couple of computers, two 2 TB NAS drives, wireless printing, and I have my blue ray player configured to stream movies off of the NAS drives to the TV. So I handle a lot of high def movie files that I transfer from the computer to the hard drives. It can take hours or even days to move files.
I am running the Netgear WNR3500Lv1 with the Kong 19545 build. My speeds have already tripled with the firmware upgrade. The NAS drive is a 2 TB WD Mybook Live running to the router through a Cat 5e cable. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a 100 MB/S LAN (also a 802.11G Wireless).
It doesn't matter if I have the computer connected to the router wirelessly or through the LAN (cat 5e). I never get transfer speeds greater than 920 KB/s.
the network sharing center shows my connection on the LAN at 100 MB/s and the wireless is 54 MB/s
I know you guys probably see a bunch of new guys posting questions like this all the time and it probably gets exhausting, but I have done the searching to try to figure out why the slow speeds and I just haven't been able to make any difference.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
