Speed problem

I have one wnr3500l with the latest dd-wrt from kong . When i uppgraded my internet speed from 100/10 to 250 I noticed that i didnt get the speed i should have, maximum speed 115mbit/s and that wasnt ok.

I have one wrt320n as well and tryed dd-wrt on that one and there i had the same problem.

Tryed tomato on both the routers, still the same problem, max 120mbit/s.

When i shut downd dhcp server and uses lanport as switch instead (internet-->lan1  lan2---cpu) i maxed out the line and had no speed problem (both routers, both firmare)

Last thing to do is to try original firmare, i do so on wrt 320n and cashing 235mbit/s down and 105 up and its the fw thats the problem, who could have guesed that?

I guess the problem are the wan-port dont support over 100mbit with dd-wrt or tomato and i wonder, are there any lines in the config i need to change?

Hope you all understand.

I never really looked at it.

I never really looked at it. I have a WNR3500L running DD-WRT and when I saturate the system with downloads from my Usenet service I get ~1.1-1.5MB downloads without a problem (note that's Bytes not bits 1Byte=4bits). Now with speedtest.net I rank between 10-16Mbps on any given day. So with Road Runners guaranteed 10Mb download speed I'm showing on par to well beyond with speedtest.net and I'm lacking about 1MBps from my Usenet which could really just be protocol overhead since I'm using SSL connections. Are there any special configs you're using with your DD-WRT setup? Which firmware version? I use Kong's firmware on my WNR3500L. Search the forum and you'll find him.

I used kongs as well and even

I used kongs as well and even tried to download the latest "original" from dd-wrt.com with no succes, still only peek at 120 at the best.

The config i do are simple:

added dymdms-service acc
use vpn service activate
portforvarding for 1cpu all the others have
all other standard.

I missed that i hade for some day gbit on the wanport as well and still didnt peak over 120 and with original firmware i did around 600 download on www.tptest.se

I have now given the router to a co-worker of me who are what you can call an ace on linux and he will try to find whats missing in the config.

The reason for this is, that

The reason for this is, that the original fw uses fast_nat module but both dd-wrt and tomato use full featured nat module which is slower but is needed for all the features in tomato and dd-wrt. There is an easy explanation of Fast-Nat, here:

I'm curious, is the slow down

I'm curious, is the slow down with the full featured nat module due to the processor limitations in the router?

Exactly, that is also the reason why usb transfers via samba or ftp to an external drive are slow on these units. A lot of cpu power is consumed by the network processing.

Thanks for the replay and now

Thanks for the replay and now i understand more Kong.
Are there anyway for me to enable faster speed on the wanport without using original firmware? I do love your mod and it would be nice to use the 250/100 line i have
