SSH, Putty, R7800

Hallo Comunity, Hello Voxel,

I got my R7800 now and flashed it with latest Voxels’s FW. My goal is it, t get OpenVPN up and runnig. But as I’m a poor little Windows Child my experiences with unix, telnet, ssh and so on are not very expanded. At first I wanna get ssh access to the R7800. To get this I try to follow Voxel’s Readme – Appendix A. OK, till now I have the mentioned USB-Stick with 3 files/keys on it which I generated on - and copied from R7800. I copied the 3 files to my pc and generated the private key for putty (.ppk) as descrbed. Now I wanna ssh the E7800 with putty, but get errors. Can anyone get me futher? And what about the optional dropbear host keys? Why they are optinal and what are they usefull for? Please Help. Thank a lot.

What errors concretely?

What errors concretely?

You should

1. Point your generated PPK in putty, i.e. in putty menu tree:

Connection->SSH->Auth  and use [Browse] button to select your PPK

2. Use the address in putty Session as (for example): "[email protected]"  but not just "192.168.1.1"

Optional dropbear host keys are really optional. You may just do not do this point. It will work w/o your own keys. FW already has own generic host keys.

Voxel.
