Tomato = weak signal on WNR3500L ???

Last night, I setup my wnr3500l for the first time.

I used Tomato and couldn't access the device from the next room.  My wifi dropped to 6MBPS or lower!

When I switched back to the factory Netgear firmware...then it works fine.

Anyone else experience this?  Is it a known issue?  Is there a way to boost the signal?

I have had no wireless

I have had no wireless problems with my Tomato (beta 11) firmware. The signal is as good as my old dlink DIR655. I did boast the signal from the default 42 to 71. I get slightly better numbers on iStumbler but otherwise cannot tell any difference. Where I am, my system has to compete with 30 or more other wireless systems.

I'm back to 802.11g with the router, and the internal antennas on my laptop are better than the USB N sticks I was using... also I am on tomato again.  Perhaps I spoke too soon earlier.

How did you boost the signal?

There is a guide someplace on this website... you have to use a command prompt, erase the router that way, and then upload the firmware all through the command prompt.
