USB devices not recognised by the WNR3500L with DD-WRT

Hi!

I got my router 2 days ago and after a few testing with the Netgear-firmware i installed DD-WRT.

To install, i first was forced to use DD-WRT for WNR3500L v24 K2.6 Mini 13972 BETA (CHK)

after that i could install DD-WRT for WNR3500L v24 K2.6 BIG 13972 BETA (BIN)

Now the services menu showed also the USB tab.

I enabled everything as recomended in Enable USB Sharing Over Your LAN with NETGEAR WNR3500L and DD-WRT

but neither my USB Harddisks (NTFS and EXT3) nor USB-Stick(FAT) will be recognised. The "Disk Info" is empty.

The Stick and the NTFS drive worked fine with the Netgear firmware.

My question: Did i something wrong?  Who have this Router running DD-WRT with USB devices?

Thank you for your replies.

Hi!

Hi!
Yes, i also reset it to defaults. Did you get it working with USB?
I will try Tomato now, to verify the function of USB. Will switch bach to DD-WRT later.
I will post my results here.
Thank you!

Did you do a 30/30/30 reset,

Did you do a 30/30/30 reset, after moving to dd-wrt?

If you login to the router via ssh or telnet, what does command:

lsmod

show you? In addition you can check kernel debug info:

dmesg | grep usb

USB has been working with dd-wrt for a while.

Tomato does also not

Tomato does also not recognise the USB devices.
Will try to install the original Netgear firmware now.
...and i am confused why there are different file types as .trx .bin and .chk
Tomato and DD-WRT doesn't accept chk-files....

But this is anoter story.
Does anybody else has experience with this USB topic?

Hi!

Hi!

The 30/30/30 reset helped. It is working fine with USB now, and has Samba per default.
I am currently testing Tomato.
Thank you!

Cannot get USB to work. :(

Cannot get USB to work. :(
Have tried 30/30/30-resets.
Different firmwares, from download section on this page and from dd-wrt page.
Nothing shows up in dmesg when plugging/unplugging devices.

Works fine with tomato.

Any other tips?

Thank You!
Regards Rickard

You mean it worked with

You mean it worked with tomato, while you changed firmware you must have deactivated the usb port, activate it the way it is described in the above link.
After that you should see a message in your log e.g.:

usb-storage: device found at 2
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usb-storage: device scan complete

OK, you were faster and got it right:-)
