i want to know which firmware is the best one for my interests.
i own a Netgear WNR3500L/U/v2 currently with 1.28.7440 MIPSR2-Toastman K26 USB Ext.
An external WD-USB2.0-2TB HDD (ext3) is connected to the router. On This harddisk are some samba shares, some ftp-shares and a lot of media files i want to use via DLNA with a couple of devices in my house. At the moment all is running fine, but the DLNA isn't. If i try to build the database the router beginns with indexing and a few hours later it crashes. Only a reset is able to bring it back to life then. I have also an issue with my iphone and a WirelessG Netbook. They sometimes loose the connection to the router. If i manually choose the router, they immediately reconnect and all is fine. My Macbook doesn't have this issue (It's wirelessN capable). The Filetransfer in Samba Mode is about 6 MBytes/s.
What i want:
- DLNA Server running
- FTP Server running
- more Transferspeed in Sambamode (Gigabit LAN!)
- no disconnects of iPhone and Netbook
Any sugestions which firmware i could choose?

I have a wnr3500l with 1.28.7476 MIPSR2-Toastman-RT K26 USB VPN-NOCAT .
with a 16Go usb stick and a 500Go usb ext drive attached behind a hub.
On the stick I have all optware progs running and data on the drive.
I have noticed that the sytem works well but each time I crash the router it was due to corruption in files sytems even on stick or drive. (ext3 and ntfs). Maybee u can check your drive when it craches.
I have not founded a good way to umount the drives before rebooting or stopping the router (sometimes hard with the AC switch :) )
