Can I use R7000 firmware for R6900P?

I have a Netgear Nighthawk R6900P and I would like to update the firmware to DD-WRT. I cannot find anything for this model but I've seen threads where some have said it's just a stripped down version of the R7000 and to use the R7000 firmware, and if there is any issues installing it, I should change the router ID to think it is a R7000.

Has anyone here done this or have any information that would be helpful?

No, you cannot use R7000

No, you cannot use R7000 firmware. The R6900P is stripped down version of the R7000P. These use different processors so the firmware is incompatable.
