It wasn't a good idea to try this version tonight (svn10564).
After the upgrade by the gui ....nothing!
With Tftp32 and a chk image 10509 i'm back with you.
I think it's a big problem to resolve. Another one is that on the dd wrt site there is no comment about the different versions, fix bug etc. It's not easy to find your version between eko or tng directories.

Eko said: About .bin upgrade: It doesn't work with dd-wrt GUI because of checksum that is checked by cfe on reboot. This fails, then router goes into tftp mode to get you chance to load .chk file. This is only problem with WW (EU) router, NA should take bin. That's why I do both .bin and .chk images: Example: dd-wrt.v24-10600_WGR614v8-L_nokaid.bin dd-wrt.v24-10600_NEWD_nokaid_wgr614v8-L.chk Yes, build 10600 is available. :)

build 10600 works fine with my EU router thanks a lot for the information.

i use the dd-wrt.v24-10600_NEWD_std_small_wgr614v8-L.chk what's the difference with the nokaid version please?

I am pretty sure that I have a NA router. I am in the US. I purchased it in the US and it has a US power cord.  I've tried numerous times and it will not take a .bin image.

Any advice as to how to get a standard build of DD-WRT working on my router?  I've tried many, MANY times.  It never works.  It is VERY frustrating.  The only builds that work are mini builds.  I'm not a newbie when it comes to this.  It seems to me that something is clearly wrong.  I just can't figure out what that something is...

I think I've figured out what caused most of the problems I was experiencing.   After further testing it seems that dd-wrt and the Mozilla Firefox web browser do not play well together when attempting to upgrade.  Using Internet Exploder, it worked fine.  I hope this post helps others to avoid the frustration I experienced.

FWIW, I'm now running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/24/08) std (SVN revision 10600M NEWD Eko)

SouvikGhosh said: Hi all, Eko has fixed most of the issues like led blinking, resetting in his new firmware. This firmware is avilable in the DD-WRT svn - version number is 10488. Please try this version. This was a test build but no one has complained against this formware. It's working quit fine. Try that out and share your comments.

Hi Could any body please provide me a link to get DD-WRT svn-version 10488. Please provide me a link as this svn stuff is quite confusing for me and I am not able to get the exact source code. Thanks in advance

you need to checkout the code from dd-wrt svn. Simply you can type the following command from your linux console to get the code. command: svn co svn://svn.dd-wrt.com/DD-WRT. Pleasse be sure that you have enough disk space - the total source will be around 7 gb.
You can specify the version also while checking out. Please refer to the svn man page for details.

Hi ,

As per your mail I tried to download the svn version no. 10488 but I was not able to do this due to lack of disk space.

But my free diskspace is 13gb and according to your mail , it should take only 7gb.

Could you plz tell me why is this happening ?

I gave the following command to get the sorce code :

svn co svn://svn.dd-wrt.com/DD-WRT --revision 10488

I think this is all I need to do but I dont know exactly how much free space I need to have for this ???

Plz help ...

When I was having issues, I went ahead and connected the serial cable to it and was easily able to restore it using that.

This guide was helpful:

Brett,
Thanks for the quick reply. This is what I get for upgrading on Sunday Morning. I have a TTL-Serial adapter headed this way, and should be able to get back in business soon.
Eko, I seem to have a NA version of a WGR614L that didn't like a .bin upgrade from 10509 to 10700. After I get the serial cable running, I will update the results.

How exactly did you try to upgrade?  After sitting there looking like a brick the power light on the unit should start blinking, indicating it is ready for a tftp upload.

That sounds like the same exact experience I went through... and I'm agreeing with the "semi-bricked" category ;)

Try just holding in the reset button for a bit.  I found that after doing so it gets into tftp mode. When/if the power light blinks you can then tftp to it.

When I had this problem, I tried every combination of holding down the reset button, plugging it in, etc... with no luck, I just couldn't get the router to go into tftp mode.  I ended up using a serial cable to get it back running.

Count me in with the "semi

Count me in with the "semi-bricked" variety.

I flashed my NA
version using the ".bin" via the web interface last week (before
reading this second page - and the note about (not) using Firefox) and
have the same symptoms...

Can ping 192.168.1.1 successfully
(with the same TTL 100) and that's about it. I'm switching to a
different router for now, but hope to bring this one back to life in
the future. It would be a nice if an unbricking method which doesn't
require the serial cable were found, but that might be asking too much.

Eko,
Appreciate your work, and keeping us updated. Mini version .bin applied without any problems, and seems to be very happy. Is there anything you need feedback on for the WGR614L?
Tim

Well, yes, feedback - positive or negative - is always welcomed. This is only way we can improve it. Other suggestions are welcomed too.

Hi, I am new here.

Hi, I am new here.
I just changed from the v24 sp1 special to the Eko 10991 to fix the upnp problem.
I want to know, as of now, the highest version is 11207, is higher the number the better? I have no idea what these version numbers are.
And what's the different between NEWD and VINT?
Also, is the special version available?
thanks a lot.

My router is WRT54GL 1.1

I've tried the new DD-WRT v24

I've tried the new DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/17/08) std_small (SVN revision 11218M NEWD Eko) but the old bugs are still there:

I have a LAN 192.168.0.1, a WPA2-PSK AES-CCMP WLAN eth1 192.168.1.1 and an unecnrypted chillispot wl0,0 at 192.168.44.1.

After boot and after every forced pppoe re"dial" eth1 loses its IP.
Even with IP I can't connect to my private encrypted WLAN until the nas process is restarted. Seems like nas is started to early at boottime when the device isn't yet initialised. nas doesn't recognize the properly set up device later and nas remains unusable until it is restartet once after every reboot every few weeks.

Luckily I have a wired client to access the router but I have won a 2nd WGR614L at this forums (thanks a lot Peter Redmer & Netgear Emarketing) and I want to use it where someone doesn't have wired clients. With this bugs the router would be useless because it wouldn't be accessable.

Any advice for a dirty workaround?

Is there anybody who have tried DD-WRT firmware 11218 for WGR614L ? I am asking this because I know one guy who use it and find checksum error. I bricked my own router, so can not try this firmware. If somebody test this firmware and let me know the result then it will be of great help.

I have tried this and it is working OK ... I did not get any checksum problem ... neither my router got bricked ....

I wonder, why you ask,

I wonder, why you ask, Tathagata Das, because I've written before that I'm using 11218. But just like the old firmware it seems to have an oops or something. After a week the chilli wasn't running anymore and couldn't be restarted manually. My private WLAN didn't work either. Only a reboot helped. That's exactly the same behaviour like 10509 e.g..
At least the GUI-Update works with newer builds but I wonder what other things have changed. I can live with a WLAN that slows down or dies every few weeks but adding the eth1 IP daily is really annoying ;-)
