Wifi Dropped

Hi Guys,

woke up this morning, to find all my wireless devices were offline, but still connected to my 6400.  Obviously a reboot solved it, but why did this happen?  Do i have a wrong value in my DDWRT config?  I've got it set as the default 3600 lease time.  Another thing that bothers me is since upgrading to DDWRT kong mod, my WPS button on the router no longer works!  Any help is much appreciated.

Ddwrt can be unstable at

Ddwrt can be unstable at times. Really depends on which build you are on. Better ask in the dd-wrt forum or find a stable verson.

If you want my advice? Forget dd-wrt and go for Asus Merlin firmware (version 7.5 is very stable) from my post in this forum section.

You will be amazed!

Yes from what I read (didn't know Sky Fibre) searching with Google on "Sky fibre merlin"

Instructions how to install Merlin on R6400 are one post below yours :) Be sure to use version 7.5!

Cheers

did it and am quite impressed

did it and am quite impressed.  Wasnt intending too lol was planning to update my DDWRT to the latest firmware, but accidentally uploaded the new merlin firmware!  It took me literally minutes to get it working.  Only bugbear with it is, that the wifi lights on the router no longer work, and the wps button no longer works.  I did not that they have version 7.7 up now if youve tried that?

Glad you did. No I haven't

Glad you did. No I haven't tried 7.7 version. I stick to 7.5 (very stable!)  for now and wait for 7.8 (based on Asus 352?). I run it a few weeks now and still discover new great features.
Read more user experience about 7.x versions in this (chinese) forum: http://koolshare.cn/thread-129417-1-1.html

I have my R6400 in DMZ now (heavily protected) and use AiColoud to acces my NAS which is in the same subnet on my phone and at work.

Planning to setup VPN server to access it with a client VPN on my phone (or work PC) directly.

I also use a modified /jffs/scripts/wan-start script and a script to register my R6400 with a free DDNS service.

ps: I don't use WPS (unsecure!) and didn't notice the lights were off until now :)

Hi, which version are you

Hi, which version are you using? 7.5? I didn't encounter that problem. Maybe because I switch off Wifi during the night.

Try scheduling the Wifi off for a couple of hours using the scheduler: Wireless > Professional > Time scheduler (for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz)

Will this install on a 6400V2

Will this install on a 6400V2 or is it strictly 6400?
