rollback to Tathagata or Kong from beta 36154

Hello,

It is my first post here, I have been using dd-wrt on my Linksys WRT54G for years, now it is the first time I need to ask for help.

I bought R6400v2 and followed the instructions from TXUSA (https://www.myopenrouter.com/forum/update-installing-kong-build-netgear-...) on getting kong build. The build seemed quite stable except for the fact I could not establish a client bridge on 5 GHz.

I tried another build, which I got here: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/06-16-2018-r36154/netgear-r6400v2/ but the 5 GHz interface is missing (the router is recognized as R7000). I tried to rollback to stock firmware, Kong and Tathagata but the router comes back with the same soft (r36154). Currently I don't have 5 Ghz interface and on top of that, 2.4 GHz site survey show nothing.

Do you have any advice how to rollback?

CHeers

Hello. Although my

Hello. Although my instructions work I later found out that there are issues with the DDWRT firmware, specifically builds detecting the wrong version of the router (7000P), which turns out to be way worse than just a cosmetic blemish. It causes a lot of chaos behind he scenes. The Kong build used to be for the v1, but with the help and donations from a few people Kong had now developed a v2 build that is currently in the testing phase (available on desipro.de/ddwrt). The official version should be released soon if you don’t want to risk installing the beta version.

Hi,

Hi,

thanks for your answer, I did move to new 01/09/2018 Kong's build and 5 Ghz is back! I did post it on dd-wrt forum as well.

However, I still have issues with using client/bridge modes and would like to revert to stock now. I saw that you did modify the board id in Netgear firmware as described here: https://www.myopenrouter.com/forum/removing-dd-wrt-firmware-and-restorin... but I am not sure about my board id (I understood there is 20 and 30 versions available these days). Can you tell me how I can check for it? I guess flashing the router with the wrong one could brick it?

Cheers

Following great guide of egc

Following great guide of egc from dd-wrt I manged to move back to netgear stock firmware - he published tweaked netgear firmware (board id modification) and it works like a charm.

I am currently testing again kong's build and can establish 5 Ghz wireless bridge after reseting to factory defaults.

I am glad you fixed it. For

I am glad you fixed it. For reference... if you try to flash the firmware using a serial cable the router will simply reject it if it is the wrong board ID... your router will reboot back to the firmware that was on there already. Therefore you can't really mess it up... even if you don't know your board ID you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right the first time. It's either the 20... or the 30... I had to learn that too... router rejected it until I fixed the ID in the firmware.

And it's known that the build still has some issues... hence it is the test version for now. Once an official build is out this should be fixed.
