R6400 first time flash

Hi guys, newbiew to all this flashing here.

I have an R6400 Nighthawk Router, and im trying to get it work with Sky Fibre.  After lots of browsing it appears i need to flash it to get it working.  So, what would you all suggest.

Is this router DD WRT compatible? Looking at the main DDWRT site, it would suggest not, but im betting you guys are more in the know lol.

I'm seeing tomato, kong mods and DDWRT firmwares, so which one is the best please, and of course the most stable so i can set it and forget it lol

cheers
TM

Yes, Kong has a version of DD

Yes, Kong has a version of DD-WRT for the R6400:

If it's an R6400v2, we posted a new release just recently:

And some handy first-time tips:

Yes, it should designate on

Yes, it should designate on the base or sticker, and possibly also the box, whether it's a V2 or not.

Hi All, forgive me for not knowing where to ask this question. Someone gave me a netgear r6400 v1 for parts and in the hopes of getting it up and running with DD-WRT i gave it a try. Not knowing WHAT has been done I attached serial and it reads the first line, sets the digital core voltage, second line decompressing....error-1 stops goes no further. ok Im sure the cfe is corrupt.          Then I found another r6400 at garage sale for $5 they said boots but some functions not working. Loaded latest stock firmware on router #2 all is fine except no wifi from either band. Putty serial console complains 1L: 1L wireless driver adaptor not found.

Next Had DD-WRT running with BOTH wifi bands working, but unstable and lan mac address not correct.     Did edit cfe to correct lan mac address,  saved and replaced, (ssh then telnet write to mtd)  and it took, but to no avail. Should end with :84....instead ends two higher :86.  I'm not sure if thats why wireless is not working because of mac address problems or something else but I belive something is amuck with current cfe. It tries to pull the vmlinuz fie every DD-WRT boot but not with stock FW, is this normal?
So i ask here does anyone here have and willing to share a copy of stock cfe (without mac address) for r6400 v-1 ? .....or point me in the direction i can get one please and thanks in advance. I have searched the internet and cfe collection project for a month now but i can't seem to find a copy for the r6400. I know its not the most popular router, but it was given to me so i said what the heck. If it works i might try to jtag that same copy into the first router also.
Can someone post it here or link or possibly send it to me?  I say possibly because I like to try not to make my e-mail public.
and Thank You All in advance
