Yellow Check and Internet Lights

When I first connected this router (with the factory Netgear load), all lights were green.

Now, that I've loaded DD-WRT, my internet and check mark lights are yellow.

What is the check mark light, and why are both of these lights yellow?

This seems like info that would be on this site, but I searched and couldn't find anything about the significance of these lights.

Thanks for any help!

Can't change password on Tomato load

When I attempt to change my password on my router which is currently running Tomato, I get this error:

The field "http_wanport" is invalid

I don't like running with the default password, so this is a big deal. What's going on with it & how do I fix?

Thx

Problems with console connection.

Is it possible to use a standard RS232 serial cable with the console connection instead of the USB cable? I
had a DB9 serial header which I soldered to the board with the
appropriate TX/RX/GND config from the article that explains the USB cable.

At one
point it was working and I could see the board going through the boot
process, and the firmware I had uploaded was having an error, which
causes the router to reboot.

"HTTP_WANPORT" is Invalid with Tomato

Can't upgrade WGR614L with Tomato

I just bought a WGR614v8 and am attempting to load tomato on it. I downloaded the zip from this site and am attempting to upload: tomato_wgr614l.chk to it (like the readme in the zip instructs), but the router refuses to load the image (says "invalid filename was provided"). What am i doing wrong?

Thanks,

Brad

WGR614 v.8 for $29.99 @ Frys (Burbank, CA)

For those interested, as of today (8-22-08), Frys has on sale WGR614 v.8 for $29.99!!  They seem to have some left over stock before netgear decided to repackage the v.8 to WGR614L at a much higher suggested price.  Frys is selling the remaining v.8 in the standard packaging at a much cheaper price. I have purchased four so far.

So grab them while you can!!!!

captive portal

Is it possible with the WGR614L using any of the firmwares to implement a captive portal.

The idea is to intercept all traffic and redirect browser to a page on our company web server that has a disclaimer and company info. The user will then have to accept this disclaimer before we allow them to go externally.

Any suggestions on which of the firmwares are best for achieving this?

Many thanks

Agreement like a hotel

Is there a website that a user can be redirected to once they connect.  After connecting they must agree with the terms of use?  We are going to use this netgear router with either DD-WRT or the major open router source intended for netgear.

thanks

WGR614v8 and WGR614L Same Router?

I went to my local frys this morning to check out their weekly sale, and I noticed that they have the standard WGR614 back on regular price from $29.99 to $44.99.  Across the shelve they have the Opensource model, WGR614L priced at $69.99.  I checked both items and noticed that the standard packaging WGR614 and opensource model WGR614L have the same router version 8.

Are these the same routers???  Did netgear mess up in the packaging?

Second UART availability

I have a WGR614v8 and I was able to locate and use the UART0. Now I need to know if there is a way to use the second UART, the UART1. I don't see any header on the board for it. Could it be shared with the JTAG pins or the GPIO ?

In case that is not possible to use the UART1 in this hardware, can you suggest a model that can ?
