wgr614 v4 - Can tomato be loaded to this router

Is it possible to load the tomato load onto a wgr614 v4.  It seems to have the same base Broadcom chipset, but the load is refused by the router.  Does anyone know if this is possible?  I would think this is similar enough that it ought to work.  I'm trying to turn this device into a wireless client.

Debug console

Has anyone used the debug console on a WGR614 yet.

I have failed in all of my attemps to talk to it.

My hardware is the recomended rs232-3v3  usb adapter cable.

The cable works with othe test equipment.

Thanks

rebuilding of "PREBUILT" files

How do I rebuild the modules in the  "..\bcm5354\src\prebuilt" dircetory???

the build instructions supplied do not rebuld these.

As a test I tried to change the ver#. The only source module that contain the ver# appears to be stored in

"...\bcm5354\project\acos\include\ambitCfg.h"

Also not rebuilt is "...\bcm5354\ap\acos\rc\acos_service"

This module also appears to contain the ver# info.

However doing a full rebuild (all 5 makes) does not changed the ver # in output *.chk file.

Device Recovery procedure Fails

The doc says to:

      1. Power off the unit

      2. Press and hold the RESET button at the rear panel

      3. Power on to reboot the unit

      4. Monitor the Test LED, and keep holding the RESET button until the Test LED changes from blinking to steady ON

       5. (which means the boot loader has entered the TFTP recovery mode)

Console Debug Interface

Has anyone gotten the "console debug interface" to work on the WGR614L??

if so, how did you do it??

I have connected the "RS232-3v3 to usb" but can not get any response from the WGR614L.

Also it appears that the 'src/cfe' code is not included in the release code.

Does it need to be added in??

If so, please supply instructions or update modules/code.

Thanks

Stil Can't get a good build for WGR614v8 code

For the 4th time I tried to build this code.

First I did a full clean install of Fedora 8.

Then I added in the additional "compat-8" stuff.

Again down-loaded the 2 modules from the Netget web site.

Again I tried to follow instuctions to the letter.

In step 5 of "build the toolchain" says to

" Please read the "README.TXT" files in each directory, and follow the insctructions to build the target code."

the readme file in "tools-src"

under  "To make the GNU toolchain"

says to:

Netgear is Promoting Myopenrouter.com!

I just received my new WGR614L router and was surprised to see a sticker on it promoting this website.

Hopefully that will bring some good knowledgeable folks here to help answer and tweak our routers.

Can't find Fedora Core 2

I'm having trouble locating a download of "Fedora Core 2".

It would be nice for Netgear to update their code to use the current tools.

The oldest ver of Feroda shown on the site is ver 4 from 2004.

the current release is ver 8.
